Following the coup on February 1, 2021, Myanmar’s pro-democracy youths took up arms and began resisting the military. This conflict has now persisted for over three years.
Numerous war fronts have emerged across the country, leading to the establishment of many refugee camps in cities, villages, and regions of the state. Among these, the war refugee camp in Karen State, established after the Lay Kay Kaw conflict, is significant. This photo essay provides insight into the lives of the residents of the Loh Khaw War Refugee Camp, located along the Thai-Myanmar border near the Moei River, and how they are moving forward amidst the turmoil.
